Personnel at Wech St. Andrä

“If you’re young, hard-working and have the necessary common sense, you can achieve a lot in life.” The company founder took her own motto very much to heart, and so the small detached house in St. Andrä became the foundation for Austria’s largest poultry producer.

Today St. Andrä is the headquarters of the Wech corporation. On the spot where Hermine Wech plucked her chickens in 1958, there now stands one of the most modern, high-performance production plants in Austria. Slaughtering begins every morning at 5 am, the poultry is processed all day, and at 5 pm it is loaded and delivered. Supermarket chains, discounters, wholesalers and many other customers thus receive ultra-fresh produce by the following morning, and approx. 1.8 million people enjoy delicious fresh Wech poultry once a week on average.

Personnel at Wech Glanegg

Turkey production has been part of the Wech corporation since 1996. In Glanegg, Wech is setting new standards for production diversity and innovation.

Numerous studies have shown that turkey meat is healthy. Healthy meat requires appropriate breeding conditions, quality feed, stress-free slaughtering and clean, hygienic processing. 25,000 turkeys are processed as fresh meat, smoked produce, kebabs or one of the many different types of sausage every week. Consumers can be absolutely sure that a “Turkey Extra” sausage, for example, will contain only the very best meat and spices. It is already more popular than the traditional Extra sausage made of pork, and is the best evidence that low-fat, healthy products can taste truly delicious.

5 years ago, the Wech group took over a company in the south of Hungary. Today, it is one of the region’s model companies with a distribution network covering the entire Balkan region as far as Romania.

Pecs is a city with a population of 150,000 in southern Hungary, just a few kilometres from the Croatian border. Wech supplies fresh chicken and turkey from Austria every day, and the market responds with a steady increase in demand. Wech’s takeover made eFeF the first Hungarian poultry company to be certified by the coveted International Food Standard (higher level).

Once upon a time, there was a dedicated and successful worker. Together with his employer, he founded a company in Rayne na Koroskem, from where he now conquers the Slovenian market.

The new subsidiary close to the Carinthian border supplies Slovenian consumers with fresh Austrian poultry. Wech’s sausage specialities are also becoming increasingly popular as special spice mixtures have been added to cater for southern tastes. In general, Wech in Slovenia is noted for its fast, above-average market growth.
